The Guardian is a world-wide limited edition of just four bronze castings, each signed, numbered and dated by the sculptor. He stands thirteeen feet tall above the base that secures him to the sea bed. The first casting was placed on a reef in front of Light House Point in West bay Grand Cayman by Divetech on April 14th, 2015. This installation has been a huge success, with over a thousand divers visiting in the first month after the sinking, - including astronaut Buzz Aldrin. The Guardian has become a major marketing focal point for both Divetech and Grand Cayman itself.
The second casting will be placed by California Ships To Reefs in the San Diego Underwater Recreation Area located approximately 2.5 miles northwest of the mouth of Mission Bay Harbour, in about 70 feet of water. The sinking is estimated to take place in mid 2015.
Each location for a Guardian installation is carefully chosen for the quailty of diving in the area, and the
exposure he will receive to spread the message of the importance of environmentl awareness and stewardship. There are two castings left in the limited edition. We are looking for dive resorts and Toursim Departments all over the world, outside of the caribbean and West coast of North America (United States and Mexico), as these regions are exclusive to the first two castings.
Divers love to cruise around the Guardian, taking photographs and video to post on social media sites. Diving publications all over the world have featured the mermaids and the Guardian on many occasions.
